DOES BIRDIEBALL WORK?
When I first discovered BirdieBall, I was keen as mustard to give it a go. Never one to "believe the hype", I immediately got setup for a test drive.
As easy as opening a new box of balls on the first tee, setting it up is simply a matter of taking it out & hitting it! I was given two mats/ turfs from BirdieBall so I could stand on one & use the other to hit off. The information on the box states that they fly an average of 40 yards. This is just an average though so if you hit a longer iron, it will go further.
The first thing I noticed off the bat is that they really do fly like a real golf ball! I hit a few shots like normal, aiming at the flag & they all reacted the same way.
Because BirdieBalls are hollow in the middle you can stack them up the shaft of your club instead of trying to carry all of them. I stacked 6 of them & went back to the mat to try again.
I was so impressed with the way they work. They do what they say they are going to do. There are no special gimmicks required to get BirdieBalls to work & if you top it, you'll see it without the risk of breaking a nearby window!
The only thing that’s different to an actual golf ball is the sound it makes when you hit it. It's a kind of whooshing noise which is actually pretty fun.
BIRDIE TURF
Included with my package was BirdieBall turf. I was particularly impressed with this, both the quality & durability. As a Golf Coach, I've tried a ridiculous amounts of training aides & home turfs, BirdieBall turf is one of the best I've ever used!
It has a carry handle & is lightweight so it's easy to transport. The turf has a mild trench on the edge that allows you to lay down your BirdieBall’s before you hit them. It can also be used to hold standard golf balls. Because it's thick, the material allows you to hit down directly on the turf without causing damage to your club. It also stay put pretty well from shot to shot so you don't need to adjust it much when you're practicing.
This is a high-quality hitting mat for a fairly low cost & definitely worth the investment.
